Art; Drawing and Painting; Gift - F.A. Lucas collection; May 11, 1917. Dear Dr. Lucas, According to Mr. Bahr, the Chinese painting is at the latest an early Sung production (960-1280 A.D). That seems to me impossible and after seeing the Persian...in the Morgan Library, which also includes a painting of a giraffe, I am convinced that the Chinese painting falls within the Ming period - that is, not over three or four hundred years old, or five at the most. Sincerely yours, C.R. Eastman; stamped: "7104"
