Verso: Jaguar - Felis onca (True) - is the largest and most powerful of the American cats. Although its spotted coat resembles the Old World Leopard, the jaguar has a more massive head, heavier body, and shorter tail. Once found in the Southwestern United States, today the jaguar ranges chiefly from Northern Mexico through Central and South America to Central Argentina.
